THE PERSONA 5 PALACE MEME

Is this... the school? For real?

Spoiler Warning: This discusses the way Persona 5 Palaces work, so that this isn't just a P5 player meme. Not terribly huge spoilers, but this is less vague about some of the Persona 5 terms. If you have the basic gist of the Palaces, you can totally skip straight to the prompts.

In the world of human cognition, desires are king. They decide what you will do, what you won't do, and what you will become. However, if they are all that you allow to drive yourself, giving into your desires without justice, compassion, or morality... they grow distorted. When they do, the world of human cognition - known formally as the Metaverse - warps to compensate, forming what is known as a Palace.

A Palace is a testament to those distorted desires. It forms around a place important to those desires - big or small - in the real world, and it becomes a mirror of the owner's distorted cognition. It becomes a home for the person's Shadow - the part of themselves formed out of their desires that they hide from the world - and their Treasure, the foundation upon which all of their desires are built.

For those who want to access the Metaverse, there is the Meta-Nav. It is a form of navigation (in modern times, an app) that takes three things: who, where, and what. Who is the target, where is their Palace built upon, and what does it become? If a CEO saw his workplace as a prison and sought to jail his employees eternally, his workplace would be the where in the real world - and the prison would be the what.

When in the Metaverse, Personas may form - representations of one's inner self, and a weaponized version of one's Shadow. Personas traditionally awaken in periods of high stress, where one's Shadow naturally pushes to the forefront.

Persona users will have their clothes distort in the Metaverse to protect them from the possible distortions a Palace can inflict; these clothes represent their personal vision of rebellion, however that may be.

There are only two ways to eliminate a Palace. The first way involves killing the shadow, which will eventually kill the owner. The second way involves stealing their Treasure - their fixation. Their desires. Treasures are not solid, at first: They cannot be stolen until the real life owner is informed their desires can, in fact, be stolen, and even that shock will fade fast. Calling cards and immediate dives are the traditional calling cards of the Treasure thief, and they are useful as ever.

But enough talk - where will you be? Roll the dice, see where they may fall.

0. Wildcard: Create your own scenario, or mix and mess with the ones here.
1. Introduction: No matter how you ended up in the Metaverse, it was definitely an accident. Now here's the question: did you go alone?
2. Awakening: Maybe it's the palace, maybe it's the company - but something's brought you to awakening. Whose ass is it time to kick?
3. Confidant: You and another have been working together to change things in the Metaverse. Might as well get to know each other outside, too, right?
4. Battle: Maybe you're only fighting grunts, but there's a fight to be had! Have you got each other's backs?
5. Heist: You've sent your card - time to start on the theft itself! How're you planning on stealing that Treasure, and what's your escape plan?
6. Unknown Company: Turns out there's another person - or group - operating in the Metaverse. Is that a good thing, or a bad thing?
7. Phandom: One of you is a renowned thief of hearts, and the other's just a fan. Calling cards create mystique, after all! Will you spill your secret?
8. Mementos: The true sea of the unconscious, where all shadows unworthy of Palaces reside. Maybe you're hunting someone who's hurting with lesser desires, or maybe you're out to do something more sinister...
